Sara Khan

Sara Khan joined Trickle Up in 2020 as the Program Manager for the MPOWERED project and is based in the Asia office in Kolkata, India.

Sara has worked in the development sector in the fields of livelihoods training, women's and micro entrepreneurship, women rights and child protection and child rights. She has experience in reporting, monitoring, project implementation and donor management and is passionate about working with women and youth with inter-sectional vulnerabilities, providing them means to achieve social and economic sustainability.

Prior to joining Trickle Up, Sara worked across India with organizations including Pratham, Rang De and mostly recently, Jabala Action Research Organization. At Jabala Action Research Organization, she oversaw the Prevention of Child Marriage Program running in two of the most child marriage prone districts in West Bengal.

Sara holds a double bachelor's degree in Economics and Sociology from University of Illinois- Urbana Champaign. She completed her master's degree in Sociology from Columbia University, USA with a focus on Race and Gender. Sara loves to read, travel and animals. She takes care of more than 12 street dogs and often conducts vaccination and sterilization drives in her neighborhood.
