Chandrani Dutta joined Trickle Up in 2020 as the Monitoring, Evaluation & Learning Manager for the Asia Office in Kolkata.

Chandrani has been part of international and national level research projects, in various capacities, funded by Indian Council of Social Science Research, National Commission for Women, International Development Research Centre, Canada and UNICEF. She has been working on various development aspects of socially and economically marginalized communities in India, especially at the interface of gender/ethnicity/caste and exclusion in urban and rural areas. Her areas of interests also include communities living in slums and low resource settings, contemporary urban policies, issues related to livelihoods and skill development, specifically using an intersectional lens. She has published papers in national and international journals as well as in edited book. She recently co-authored two research articles on the current Covid-19 crisis and status of women.

Chandrani has participated in both international as well as national conferences and have presented research papers. She has been invited as a resource person by various institutions in India, to give lecture on research methods, field survey and data collection. She has also taught Ph.D. scholars on topics like Intersectionality, Identity and Inequality.

Chandrani has a Ph.D. from Centre for the Study of Regional Development, School of Social Sciences, Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi. She has an M.Phil. in Population Studies and M.A in Geography from CSRD, JNU, and B.Sc. in Geography from Loreto College, University of Calcutta.

Chandrani has been active in the creative field, as a painter and also has received training in the Indian classical music. Her hobbies include reading and traveling and spending time with pets. She has traveled across various parts of India and abroad and loves interacting with people from various walks of life.
