Efraín Tecu joined Trickle Up in 2012 and serves as a Program Manager in Trickle Up’s Americas office in Cobán, Guatemala. He is responsible for program management, the strategic association with grassroots organizations, advocacy policy to municipalities, coordination with the private sector, governments and research centers.

Over the last four years, he has provided technical assistance related to the graduation program in countries such as Nicaragua, Mexico and Paraguay.

Efrain has a extensive track record in business administration and agronomy. Before joining Trickle Up, he spent 15 years for CARE as a Project Manager. His work has covered different rural areas of Guatemala on topics such as recovery of agricultural production systems after natural disasters, governance, risk management, food security, and local economic development, then two years at Mercy Corps, managing the Tierra Segura project and Productive, among others.

Efraín has a master's degree in Rural Development, with a focus on poverty and extreme poverty in Guatemala and Latin America, from the University of San Carlos de Guatemala. Additionally, he has a higher education diploma for sustainable development from the Rafael Landívar University and the Autonomous University of Madrid.

Efrain is Guatemalan. He owns and manages an urban garden with a diversity of nutritional species, strengthened during the confinement period of the COVID 19 pandemic.
