César Ivan Juárez Barrientos is a Field Coordinator in four municipalities of Alta Verapaz, Guatemala. He has led the implementation of the Trickle Up’s USAID-financed micro-business opportunities program for people with disabilities in Guatemala.

César has worked in rural development since 2002, with a focus on displaced and demobilized populations as a result of the internal armed conflict in Guatemala. He coordinated projects with Mercy Corps in the mediation of agrarian conflicts, economic reactivation with post-conflict land communities, and regarding value chains of agricultural and livestock products. He also formed the team for the design and implementation of projects to combat food and nutrition security for vulnerable peoples in Guatemala.

César worked in municipalities coordinating the Local Economic Development and Environmental Management Units, supporting the economic development of rural and urban populations, as well as implementing adaptation measures to climate change in the Guatemalan dry corridor area.

César is an agronomist and graduated from the University of San Carlos de Guatemala. He also has experience in the subject of gender mainstreaming and interculturality.
